H-E-B to Launch Online Grocery Service with New Manufacturing Plants

<p> H-E-B still has more <B>plans for expansion</b> up its sleeve. Bob McCullough, the company’s Senior Vice President of Manufacturing, detailed plans on an upcoming <B>online grocery service</b> to compete with Amazon and at least three <B>new manufacturing plants</b>.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> During the San Antonio Manufacturers Association expo, McCullough said that H-E-B expects to announce an <B>online-sales operation this year</b>. The service would compete with other delivery services such as Amazon.com’s Prime Pantry and Google Shopping Express, which couriers products from Target and Costco, according to the San Antonio Business Journal.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Although McCullough declined offering any details on the project, he said, “It will be a <B>world-class offering</b> you’ll be very excited about.”<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> In addition, H-E-B is planning <B>three new manufacturing plants</b> – a U.S. snack production facility, a milk-processing plant in Mexico, and at least one more over the next few years. He also declined to say what the company would manufacture at the third plant and where it would be located.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> “We’re looking to stretch capacity right now, so certainly all of these would be within the next <B>five years</b>,” said McCullough.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Meanwhile, the company recently announced plans to greatly expand and remodel its stores in San Antonio, Texas. By the end of the year, H-E-B anticipates debuting <B>22 new stores</b> and <B>major renovations</b> throughout the Texas market.
