With the help of software development firm PHRQL (pronounced “freckle”), Hy-Vee is using new technology across 200 of its stores in eight states to help supermarket dietitians monitor and guide shopper health. Both companies have signed a long-term contract to enable the service in Hy-Vee stores.
PHRQL’s Connect and Coach device allows dietitians in supermarkets to help shoppers develop healthy eating practices to manage diabetes, heart disease, and other problems, according to Pittsburgh Business Times.
“Our dietitians will use this valuable tool to document and track one-on-one nutrition counseling sessions, group classes, and guide participants in achieving their overall health goals,” said Julie McMillin, Hy-Vee Director of Health and Wellness.
PHRQL, which stands for Personal Health Recording for Quality of Life, was founded in 2011. One year later, it signed its first supermarket contract with Giant Eagle.
Connect and Coach provides a dietitian with a specialized Electronic Health Record that includes general patient information, health history, nutrition-specific history, clinical and lab data, and more.
With new tools like this in our grocery stores, we can be sure shoppers will continue looking for fresh produce to supply all of their health needs.
