NOGALES, AZ - Wilson Produce is introducing a new item to its fresh vegetable portfolio.
Organic sweet mini peppers, the company’s latest item to be marketed under its SWEET label, marks the beginning of Wilson Produce’s venture into transitioning its production to organic.
Grown in Baja California, Wilson Produce’s USDA-certified organic mini peppers are set to arrive in stores this month. Having worked with long-time seed partner, Enza Zaden, Wilson Produce selected seed varieties that yield high quality and excellent flavor, according to a press release.
“Our goal is to produce and distribute the most healthful and flavorful produce possible,” said CEO Chris Martin.
According to MULO data (Multi-Outlet Data), the mini sweet pepper category continues to see increased consumption in the U.S. The company states in a press release that the demand for organic produce shows no signs of slowing as health food stores continue to increase their market presence and conventional grocers and club stores expand their organic offering.
Wilson Produce has also introduced a new packaging design to accompany its organic sweet mini peppers.
“We listen to our customers and they love our current packaging, so we modified our design with them in mind,” said Kayla Espinoza, Marketing Manager. “They will be able to easily identify the product as organic and know they’re getting the same great quality and taste they’ve come to expect from our label.”
The bag design features convenient slide-to-seal tops, nutrition information, a family recipe, a QR code for quick access to more information, and a HarvestMark code for traceability.
