LEVERKUSEN, GER – In the latest update regarding the back and forth volley between Monsanto and Bayer as the latter seeks to acquire the former, sources are reporting that Bayer could soon be announcing a closed deal.
Unnamed sources reportedly disclosed to CNBC that Bayer’s public announcement of a deal closure could come as early as late this week.
This update comes after Bayer confirmed in a press release last Tuesday, Sept. 6, advancements to its negotiations with Monsanto. The company stated that it would be prepared to undergo a transaction of $127.50 per share, or more than $65 billion, a 2 percent increase of its previous offer.
Monsanto likewise confirmed receiving the updated proposal, stating in a press release that, “Monsanto is continuing these conversations as it evaluates this proposal, as well as proposals from other parties and other strategic alternatives to enable its Board of Directors to determine if a transaction in the best interests of its shareowners can be realized.”
CNBC’s sources projected the expected deal to close in the price range of high $120s per share, with negotations still continuing over regulatory issues.
