WARRENSBURG, MO – Dollar Tree is looking to expand its footprint in the Midwest. The Missouri Department of Economic Development announced last week that the retailer is planning to invest roughly $110 million to build a new 1.2-million square-foot-distribution facility in the region.
“Dollar Tree is a large and growing organization,” said Dollar Tree Chief Executive Officer Bob Sasser, in the department’s press release. “We have been very impressed with the business-friendly approach that the State of Missouri, Johnson County, and the City of Warrensburg have provided. This project demonstrates our commitment to western Missouri by creating hundreds of jobs in the region. We are proud to become a bigger part of the local community.”
The new Warrensburg facility is expected to create 375 new jobs within three years. The facility will support Dollar Tree retail stores throughout the Midwest.
“Dollar Tree’s decision to grow its business in Missouri is great news for people in Warrensburg,” said Missouri Governor Eric Greitens. “This new distribution center means hundreds of new quality jobs for families. We’re fighting to grow jobs every day, and we’re grateful to Dollar Tree for recognizing that Missouri is open for business and our people are ready to work.”
Dollar Tree currently operates more than 14,300 stores in 48 states and five Canadian provinces. The retailer expects its distribution center, which will be Dollar Tree’s 23rd to open in May of next year.
