DALLAS, TX - Partnerships help our industry go around. As the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are still present in our everyday lives, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has granted a new round of funding for the industry to continue the Farmers to Families Food Box Program. Industry movers and shakers like Land & Sea have taken up the call to bring additional security this holiday season, partnering with the USDA and other produce suppliers to provide $500 million worth of goods to those in need.
“Through our vast experience in the industry, we have curated and cultivated an extremely seasoned network of major plants and suppliers and have a streamlined logistical approach when either consolidating or moving full loads of product regionally and nationwide,” Gabriel Herschberg, Owner and Founder of Land & Sea, tells me. “We have made very good alliances with companies that are either awardees or distributors working directly with USDA. For instance, we had the pleasure of working with DiMare Fresh on products difficult to source at the time and hope to continue to work with them on future opportunities.”
A steadfast partner since the third round of funding, Land & Sea is poised once again to team up with companies approved for the USDA’s Farmers to Families Food Box Program. So far, 5.1 million food boxes have been invoiced for the fourth round, and deliveries are expected to go through December 31.
“While we have been in the import, export, and distribution sectors for many years, it truly is rewarding to know that our work in procuring raw materials, programming production, distribution, and logistics is all for a higher good,” Gabriel says.
Land & Sea sources specialty products, a vast array of ethnic foods, and high-quality proteins for the food industry. This diversity has primed the company as a valued partner to see this program, and the industry, succeed.
“We have always differentiated ourselves by bringing solutions to both our customers and suppliers. The opportunity to sell products in these situations demands attention, and working with like-minded professionals that can appreciate our dynamic and service-oriented approach to the business is rewarding,” explains Gabriel. “Being responsive and working with companies that can communicate well is also a win-win for all in this commercial partnership.”
