SAN FRANCISCO, CA - We are witnessing the success of a formidable alliance with Albertsons Companies’ latest announcement. The grocer has expanded its alliance with Uber Technologies, bringing nearly 800 new locations to Uber Eats’ innovative platform, including stores in Connecticut, Indiana, New Hampshire, Utah, Vermont, and Rhode Island for the very first time. With this expanded partnership, the convenient service is offered at more than 2,000 of the chain’s banner stores nationwide, including Albertsons, Safeway, Jewel-Osco, ACME, Tom Thumb, Randalls, and more.
“Our growing partnership with Uber Eats brings new convenience to shopping our stores,” said Amber Kappa, Vice President of Business Development and Innovation, Digital at Albertsons. “Our goal is to make it easier for people to get their groceries, so they can focus on the goodness of sharing a meal.”
The evolution of this alliance makes Albertsons’ banner stores more accessible than ever, with its stores being found within Uber Eats’ grocery category. Now, shoppers can also order their favorite items for delivery through ‘express’ lanes within the convenience section of the app, according to a press release. Local banner loyalty program members, including Albertsons for U™ and Safeway for U™, can link their accounts in the Uber Eats app to earn loyalty points on purchases.
Further bringing benefits to Albertsons shoppers, consumers will be able to take advantage of Albertsons Cos. member pricing and promotions on select Albertsons grocery orders later this year.
“Together with Albertsons, we’re evolving the ways we can get groceries—and so much more—to people’s doorsteps across the country,” said Oskar Hjertonsson, Head of Grocery at Uber. “Since launching our United States grocery category in 2020, we have seen a huge appetite for easy, fast delivery from trusted retailers, and with this expanded partnership, we’re excited to serve more people with even more choice and convenience on Uber Eats.”
This announcement builds on Uber’s long-term strategy surrounding the retail and grocery sector, as the company launched its first grocery offering in July 2020 and has seen consistent growth in the U.S. since.
AndNowUKnow will keep our eyes to the wire to see how this innovative partnership will continue to grow and uncover new opportunities for the retail sector.
