OXNARD, CA - It’s the moment that many shoppers, and therefore retailers, have been looking forward to, the start of Westfalia Fruit Group’s Colombian Hass avocado season. For those looking to stock up on the green gold, the grower is reporting supplies now available through late spring of 2023.

David Fausset, Director of Business Development, Westfalia Fruit Group“Colombia is an exciting cultivation region for Westfalia,” said David Fausset, Business Development Director. “We have created a world-class integrated supply chain, and we are thrilled to offer this quality fruit program as a commercial advantage to our customers.”

Since Westfalia Fruit planted its first avocado orchards in Colombia in 2015, the supplier has played a key role in developing the country’s avocado market, a release explained. The region boasts an ideal climate for growing the fruit, receiving enough rainfall to eliminate the need for irrigation or additional water intake from outside of the regional precipitation, while also benefiting from Westfalia’s sustainable growing practices.

“The nurturing growing conditions, steep terrain, and beautiful soils are what make growing in Colombia so unique,” added Duncan Smith, Technical Manager. “The naturally vigorous growth and good bearing ability of the trees is promoted by the excellent growing conditions and good rains each year.”
