SAN DIEGO, CA - Closing out the final days of September not only signifies that Halloween is fast-approaching, but it also marks the end of an inventive annual campaign. Organics Unlimited has been celebrating its 17th annual GROW Month, which kicked off September 1, by highlighting its unique GROW program and giving retailers a hand in making a difference.
The GROW program focuses on social responsibility, with efforts promoting sustainability, education, and health care to underserved communities in banana-growing regions in Mexico and Ecuador.
Retailers in the United States and Canada that carry Organics Unlimited bananas also celebrated GROW Month by creating prominent displays of GROW bananas for at least one week during the month of September. During this annual campaign, grocers can appeal to consumers’ demand for sustainable offerings by sharing how the program is uplifting organic banana-growing communities in an impactful way.
According to a press release, a percentage derived from the purchase of each box of GROW organic bananas is earmarked for the GROW fund, which is then used for youth educational programs and health clinics along with dental and vision care in Mexico, clean water and early childhood education programs in Ecuador, as well as disaster relief and environmental initiatives.
GROW organic banana purchases, backed by retailer and distributor support, have provided over $3 million in aid since 2005.
