California Table Grape Commission Announces Student Scholarships

FRESNO, CA - The younger generations hold the future of our industry in their hands. Supporting field workers and their families with a generous investment, California table grape growers are offering three types of scholarships to high school seniors who are graduating in California’s table grape growing regions.

According to a press release from the California Table Grape Commission (CTGC), two types of scholarships will be offered this year to benefit field workers and their families. The first is a $14,500 scholarship for graduating seniors who will attend two years of a community college and then transfer to a California university or college. A $25,000 scholarship is also offered to graduating seniors who will attend a four-year California university or college.

A third type of scholarship, totaling $25,000, will be offered to graduating seniors who will attend a four-year California university or college and are interested in studying agriculture and building a career in the table grape industry, the release noted.

Three of each of the scholarship types will be available, with a deadline to apply by 5 p.m. on Friday, February 10.

California table grape growers have been providing scholarships to graduating high school seniors from California’s table grape growing regions since 1985.
