Meijer Launches Enhanced mPerks Program; Derek Steele Shares

GRAND RAPIDS, MI - Increasing shopper loyalty is the name of the game for Meijer. The retailer announced plans to revamp its mPerks rewards program in hopes of making the shopping experience even more enjoyable for its customers.

"We want to ensure we're continuing to provide personalized value while also making the experience fun and engaging."

According to a press release, the enhanced mPerks program will allow for more personalized rewards and savings. Customers will now earn points for every dollar spent, along with additional opportunities to earn even more points.

Customers in Southeast Michigan began transitioning to the new mPerks program earlier this week on January 16. The retailer's other Midwest markets will roll over to the new program in phases throughout January and February. Overall, the program will impact Meijer’s millions of mPerks users, which saved more than $100 million on their purchases in the first half of 2022.

Changes included in the revamp include:

  • Purchases now earn points, which customers can apply toward the savings of their choice
  • Points expire after 90 days, as opposed to 45 days in current system
  • Customers choose when and how they want to redeem points for additional savings

Customers' existing unclaimed rewards will automatically transition to the new program with the same value and any in-progress rewards will be transferred as points.
