COLOMBIA - Due to their diligence, Colombian police recently uncovered a large amount of narcotics concealed amongst a shipment of bananas headed for Belgium from the Uraba port in Antioquia.
Colombian Anti-Narcotics Police Director, Colonel Edgar Cárdenas, announced that authorities had discovered more than 1.6 tons of cocaine within the shipment of produce. According to a report from BNN, the drugs were detected by an anti-narcotic dog named Bruno.
The cocaine is said to be worth approximately 274 million pesos ($14.7 million). After this discovery, Colombian police will continue to carry out inspections of containerized cargo in ports throughout the country with institutional capacities and the support of canine guides.
