FOLSOM, CA - If you haven’t yet heard the name Kristy Babb, you likely will from here on out. The food industry expert has just been named by the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council (USHBC) and the North American Blueberry Council (NABC) as their new Communications Director. In this newly created role, she will develop and lead a highly engaging and dynamic communications platform that helps unify and drive the energy and ambition to make blueberries one of the world’s favorite fruits.
“This is an exciting time for the blueberry industry and I’m ecstatic to have the opportunity to join the USHBC/NABC team to help elevate and communicate all of the great work being accomplished by these dynamic organizations on behalf of growers, marketers, importers, and industry stakeholders,” Babb said. “Behind every blueberry is a unique story to share, and I look forward to telling these stories to inspire and inform.”
Babb has over 20 years of experience developing and executing integrated communication strategies. Her previous clients include the Dairy Council of California, California Restaurant Association, Raley’s, California Travel Association, Ford Motor Company, Morgan Stanley, and others. According to a press release, she has also served as Executive Director for two industry trade associations where she oversaw daily administrative operations, membership development, communications, marketing, and industry engagement.
The new Communications Director holds a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in communications from the University of California, Davis.
