HAMILTON, MT - Sustainability remains a hot topic in the produce industry. For buyers heading to the 2023 Organic Produce Summit (OPS) in search of environmentally friendly offerings to add to their fresh department, Local Bounti will eagerly await on the show floor. To get a sneak peek at the supplier’s unique showcase for the event, Aaron Sumption, Senior Vice President of Sales, sat down to share some key details.
“Local Bounti is proud to showcase an assortment of our California-grown organic living lettuces this year, including our popular organic living butter lettuce, along with our organic living red butter lettuce variety, and two of our other organic favorites: spring mix and watercress,” says Aaron. “These organic products offer fresh, greenhouse-grown lettuce with a long shelf-life because the roots are still attached. This means that stores and consumers have more opportunities to enjoy this fresh lettuce.”
Additionally, Local Bounti’s products are grown using 90 percent less water and 90 percent less land on average than conventional farming methods. The supplier’s living lettuce heads also come in 100 percent recyclable clamshell packaging, which creates less environmental impact, a smaller carbon footprint, and less waste.
With such a cutting-edge lineup, the grower is hopeful that OPS will bring together a diverse group of buyers and sellers to engage in high-quality dialogue.
“OPS continues to be an important event to attend because the event has continually offered a strong turnout of produce buyers and leaders from across the industry,” adds Aaron. “We find that the attendees are highly engaged, and this show has become a can’t-miss industry event. Our organic offerings continue to grow in demand, and we feel that organics will remain relevant for years to come.”
Beyond OPS, Local Bounti is laser-focused on its vision to deliver the freshest locally grown produce over the fewest food miles possible. To do so, the supplier continues expanding its footprint to reach more local customers. Currently, Local Bounti has construction underway for new facilities in Mount Pleasant, Texas, and Pasco, Washington, both of which will help the company answer growing consumer demand.
