CALIFORNIA - As AndNowUKnow seeks to bring forth vital market info to inform your retail and foodservice strategies, Baloian Farms has shared an update on a wide range of crops. First up on the list, the grower currently has green bell peppers coming out of Hollister and Stockton, California, as well as Baja California, Mexico.

“We foresee an uptick in volume next week. Supplies should be generous on both retail and foodservice grade packs,” the company said in its release last week. The supplier also noted that it is “experiencing incredible quality right now,” emphasizing that partners can load with confidence.

As for elongated red peppers, supply is stable coming out of the Fresno, Oxnard, and Baja California regions, with retail packs currently available. Rain was forecasted in the grower’s production areas late Sunday and early this morning, though supplies are expected to return to stable shortly after.

Light supplies have been reported for squash, cucumbers, chilis, beans, and eggplants due to the weather forecast.

In addition to bell peppers, Baloian has flat sweet red onions as well as Acorn, Spaghetti, Butternut, and Kabocha squash and sweet potatoes

Flat sweet red onions coming out of Hollister are seeing a more stable supply and are expected to remain so for a majority of this week. Baloian Farms is also producing hard squash in Huron, California, bringing Acorn, Spaghetti, Butternut, and Kabocha squash to market. In this category, retail partners can expect stable supplies with plenty of size options.

Rounding out the supplier’s crop update are sweet potatoes, which are being harvested and packed in Livingston, California. Stable supplies are expected all week.
