MUNICH, GERMANY - To truly adhere to sustainable goals is a serious undertaking for any business. For IFCO, it’s par for the course. The company has long been working on developing a comprehensive roadmap to address its material emissions to reach its near-term, science-based targets and become a Net Zero business in 2040.

Although IFCO made bold commitments outlined in its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) 2025 strategy, the company wants to take things a step further. By 2040, IFCO’s goal is to fully decarbonize its operations, paving the way for that Net Zero badge of honor.

As a report from the company’s website went on to note, the 2025 ESG strategy published by IFCO provides an overview of the concrete steps necessary to become Net Zero.

IFCO recently announced its plans to become a Net Zero business by 2040

“We identify and commit to win-win solutions to reduce or avoid greenhouse gas emissions across our operations in the coming months and years,” IFCO said in a post on its website.

In the 2023 Sixth Assessment Report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the report highlights that it’s imperative to make "deep, rapid, and sustained" greenhouse gas (GHG) reductions to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, and this needs to happen across all industries and regions.

“At IFCO, we embrace this challenge,” the post went on to say. “By defining a decarbonization roadmap toward becoming a Net Zero business by 2040, we have accelerated our efforts to reduce absolute GHG emissions.”
