CAPISTRANO BEACH, CA - Two weeks into its inaugural organic and conventional seedless Mandarin haul, LIV Produce is touting a high-quality, flavorful, and enticing crop not just for the newest addition, but for its entire citrus portfolio.
“We are in the peak for California citrus season, celebrating being in full swing across the board, including grapefruit, Navels, lemons, and more. We are full-steam-ahead as the holiday season begins,” Anthony Innocenti, Managing Partner, said.
With ideal weather delivering cool nights—conditions that help maximize color and flavor—LIV is seeing excellent volume and quality, particularly on the organic and conventional seedless Mandarins.
“We are packing every day! As the volume steadily increases, trucks can load any of our citrus out of Los Angeles and Bakersfield, California, depending on what minimizes miles,” Anthony shared. “With additional acreage coming on year-over-year now, we’re definitely knocking doors down for the future. So there is still a lot to look forward to as we continue to grow to meet demand.”
While Mandarins already have plenty of seasonal consumption attached to them in both usage and heritage (stocking stuffers, anyone?) Anthony pointed out retailers could further maximize sales with commitment and floor space.
“As the old produce saying goes, build high, let it fly! Show the commitment to the consumer and they will return the favor in purchases. ’Tis the season for building displays front and center, and the next five months will be some of the best fruit of the year. California is definitely the leader in high-quality, tasty Mandarins during the fall and winter months,” he reflected.
