A: All of the planning for Thanksgiving week is done weeks before, not just days prior. All of the buying is anticipated. We base inventory on previous years—what has sold historically. We base our volumes off of that the best we can.

Q: Which day is your busiest during the week of Thanksgiving?

A: Usually, the Tuesday before the holiday. That week, hundreds of thousands of packages go in and out of Hunts Point. Buying or selling tens of thousands on that particular day.

Q: What are the top-selling products?

A: In no particular order, our most popular year-to-year are:

  • Cranberry: A crop of 2.2 million barrels of cranberries was expected for 2024
  • Sweet Potatoes/Regular Potatoes: According to Newsweek, Sweet Potato Casserole is the most popular side dish in New York State
  • Butternut/Acorn Squash: As a rule, Acorn squash declines in quality fastest while Butternut squash stores longest
  • Greens: Green bean casseroles are served by over 20 million American households
  • Apples: Get ready for apple pie. 2024 is a longer season, with 20 percent more apples compared to prior years
