BENTONVILLE, AR - According to recent reports from Fox Business, Walmart is executing a plan to double down on its grocery business in the wake of ongoing inflation. This includes the remodeling of its produce departments and stores, as well as an increase in the assortment of food that the retailer offers.

John David Rainey, Chief Financial Officer, Walmart

"We've got a very high-quality produce offering for people, and it invites them in," Walmart’s Chief Financial Officer John David Rainey shared with the source. "It's a much broader assortment than what we've had historically."

To elevate its grocery prowess, the company has been building new modernized stores and remodeling hundreds of other locations, with about 700 stores being remodeled on average over the past three years. 2025 holds plans to convert more stores, introducing improved layouts, bigger product selection, refreshed signs, paint, and shopping carts.

Not only is the company offering a more expansive selection of food within the private label, but the quality of the food has improved as well, Rainey told Fox Business. "It's much broader and appeals to a lot more customers and members," he stated, adding that "the quality is just much different than what you've seen historically."

In November, overall food costs rose 2.7 percent according to the consumer price index, leaving consumers in search of quality, convenience, and more affordable prices.

As the retailer continues to enact this strategy to build loyalty and combat inflationary pressures, ANUK will be here with the latest updates.
