HOUSTON, TX - Sysco is pushing forward with its sustainability-driven transportation strategy. The distributor is celebrating the arrival of new heavy-duty electric vehicles (EVs) at its Houston, Texas, distribution facility.
This is the first Texas market to welcome Sysco’s advanced fleet of vehicles, according to a press release.
The company is also continuing its progress in deploying EVs across the United States and the globe, which was highlighted during a news conference at the Sysco Houston location this morning. The event was attended by Sysco’s Chief Administrative Officer Neil Russell, along with other Sysco executives, customers, and local government officials.
In April of 2023, the company pulled back the curtain on a long-term plan to add 2,800 electric trucks to its current United States fleet of 9,000 vehicles by 2030. Sysco has already established an electric vehicle hub at its Riverside, California, facility, which is capable of powering 40 EV trucks and 40 hybrid-electric refrigerated trailers.
As the distributor continues to make changes to elevate its fleet and cold chain, AndNowUKnow will be here to relay the latest advancements.
