LOS ANGELES, CA - It has been a week of weather alerts for California, not the least of which included a state of emergency declaration for counties impacted by tropical storms earlier this year and tsunami warnings for nearly the entire coast.
Less than 24 hours after a massive 8.8 magnitude earthquake was reported to have hit the Pacific Ocean near Russia, causing tsunami wave warnings across the sea, a U.S. Geological Survey reported a 4.3 magnitude earthquake near Muscoy, California, according to a Fox Weather report.
Thankfully, no immediate damages or injuries were reported, according to the news source, though it was felt as far as 50 miles away in Los Angeles, California. For more details, see the original report here.
The earthquake was reported at around 9:30 a.m. local time, with smaller earthquakes ranging from magnitudes 2.8 to 3.1 shortly before and after. For further context from experiences within our industry, the Southern California earthquake that struck amid the International Fresh Produce Association’s Women's Fresh Perspectives Conference in April, which rattled the hosting Carlsbad hotel and necessitated a brief evacuation as a safety precaution, weighed in at 5.2 on the Richter scale.
AndNowUKnow will continue to report on this and any other weather news in all fresh produce regions.
