SEATTLE, WA - Amazon is narrowing in on its grocery delivery strategies. It was recently announced that the retailer is trialing new grocery formats, tapping into its expansive fulfillment network to drive operational growth.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the new grocery formats offer a wide selection of online goods while providing an in-store shopping experience. Combining the power of its Whole Foods Market premium grocery business and mass-market Amazon Fresh stores, Amazon is scaling up its business via a single delivery platform.

The retailer’s strategies aim to create a one-stop shop for consumers to pick up their groceries and household items. The move comes at a time when grocery giants across the industry continue to increase their investments in the delivery space.

The news source went on to note that Amazon has begun fulfilling delivery orders for Whole Foods products out of 26 of its Amazon Fresh fulfillment centers. The retailer reportedly plans to add more locations soon. Groceries are also being delivered from Amazon’s same-day fulfillment center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Continuing to build the excitement, Amazon also plans to open a microfulfillment center in Pennsylvania that will allow customers to order groceries from Amazon Fresh. This enables them to place an order while shopping at Whole Foods and pick up the items at checkout.

On top of these strategies, Amazon has also opened a 3,800-square-foot store called Amazon Grocery near a Whole Foods location. For more of the retailer’s strategies, check out the news source above.

We are unsure what else is in store for Amazon grocery delivery, but it is clear the retailer is pressing the gas. Stay tuned for more reports.
