Bland Farms has its hands full with the Vidalia onion harvest out of Georgia, currently in full swing. The fresh season is expected to last through May, while the storage crop will last into August. John Cameron, Director of Sales, tells AndNowUKnow, “Supplies are looking good. The crop is really healthy and is sizing up very well. We’re expecting to have plenty of promotional volumes available for retailer specific programs." Additionally, Bland is participating in The Vidalia Onion Committee’s Flavors of Summer campaign, an effort that teams up additional produce suppliers to highlight the onions’ essential role in grilling for the Spring and Summer seasons.

GreenGate Fresh is moving into its new processing facility in Salinas, California. With Safety and sustainability top-of-mind, the company transformed an existing 50,000 square foot concrete tilt-up structure into a state-of- the-art facility with the use of “green” construction standards. New features include everything from stainless steel walls and ceilings in the Processing Room, to custom built sanitizing systems throughout the facility, and an air cavity wall system that allows a Venturi type airflow to carry heated moist air out through a vented roof. Jay Iverson, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, tells AndNowUKnow, “Supplying our customers and the foodservice industry with safe premium quality value added fresh vegetables all for an excellent value has always been a top priority.”
