<p>The California Avocado Commission (CAC) has opened a satellite office in Santa Paula to increase accessibility for growers in the northern area of the state, according to the Santa Paula Times.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">CAC President Tom Bellamore and Commission Board Chairman Ed McFadden attended the ribbon cutting ceremony along with local officials including District 26 Rep. Julia Brownley and Santa Paula City Councilmen Martin Hernandez and Jim Tovias.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">CAC Director of Issues Management Ken Melban noted that Santa Paula is considered ground zero for the avocado industry in what the commission sees as the whole northern section of the state. Melban said the office, located at 705 E. Main St., will also house the Avocado Inspection Program.<img src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacyWriterImages/cac_ribbon.jpg" alt="Cropped Images July 1st 2013" />The office was created to “increase accessibility for growers in the northern area,” a region rich with the fruit.
