California Giant’s Santa Maria, California, growing operation entered its peak supply window as of April 27, and is expected to continue at that level through June with very good quality, despite recent challenges posed by fluctuating weather.
“Weather has played a very significant role in this year’s domestic strawberry season. Southern California strawberry growing areas began their season on time, however, they experienced several weather events including severe rain, hail, and high winds, which caused significant setbacks to the harvest,” explains Kyla. “Now that normal spring weather has finally arrived, we are seeing a quick accumulation of plentiful strawberry volume for the summer.”
