California Giant Berry Farms has officially entered peak season in its California strawberry growing districts of Oxnard, Santa Maria, Salinas, and Watsonville. Cindy Jewell, Director of Marketing, tells AndNowuKnow, "Retailers can take full advantage of the quality and volume by showcasing strawberries front and center in their produce department. This is the time of year consumers are looking for springtime berries to brighten their daily menus." The company is also featuring its "Breath of Fresh Berries" consumer promotion all month long to support the program.

Rene Produce is kicking off harvest on its Organic Roma Tomato Crop in Culiacan, Mexico. In its first year of production, the item has already had great reception within the industry. The Organic Romas are harvested in two parts. The first section finished in late March and the second harvest begins this week with twice the acreage for these late spring months. Hurley Neer, Business Development, tells AndNowUKnow, "Our first season of growing Organic Roma Tomatoes has been quite a success. There has been zero drop-off in quality between the organic and conventional Romas. The variety offers an excellent eating tomato, with great flavor and consistency."
