VALENCIA, CA - The sun is shining, the temperature is rising, and the attraction for citrus is always growing. And what better way to spread this excitement than at a trade show? Sunkist Growers is getting in on the summer organic fun at the upcoming Organic Produce Summit (OPS) show in Monterey, California.

Christina Ward, Senior Director of Global Marketing, Sunkist Growers“For over 15 years, the California citrus cooperative has been a proud provider of USDA-certified organic citrus and continues to offer seasonal varieties throughout the year to meet ongoing demand, so we are excited to showcase our organic citrus portfolio,” Christina Ward, Senior Director Global Marketing, tells me. “We offer the largest and most consistent, year-round supply of organic citrus, alongside conventional counterparts. This has been a milestone year for the Sunkist® organic line.”

At the show, Sunkist will celebrate its fresh organic packaging with designs that pay homage to its California heritage. Featuring the iconic Sunkist lollipop logo, the retro logo was first introduced in the ’60s and was brought back by popular demand. More than half of the respondents in a Sunkist-commissioned study felt the iconic lollipop logo brings about positive emotions—it also symbolizes the sustainable farming practices used by Sunkist grower members.

“The organic citrus category is a fast-growing segment in agriculture—IRI data showed that total U.S. organic citrus sales are up 30 percent compared to pre-pandemic levels in 2019,” adds Christina. “Our robust organic citrus program, paired with our new packaging and the return of the lollipop logo, is how we’re keeping up with the demand.”

At the 2022 OPS, Sunkist Growers will showcase its lineup of organic citrus offerings after a milestone year

The new organic packaging and merchandising include the organic display master, full carton and various pack sizes. At OPS, Sunkist will also be displaying its organic lemon 1 lb net and 1 lb pouch bag alongside the 8 lb Valencia orange combo bag with the label. The new net bags further promote sustainability with a paper net header and cotton thread for more convenient recycling.

Shoppers will be delighted to see the new logo in person once it hits stores across the whole Sunkist portfolio. Currently, lemons and Valencia oranges are in season and will be displayed at Sunkist’s booth at OPS. On deck, we will see the complete assortment, including Navel, Cara Cara, and Blood oranges; Star Ruby grapefruit, California mandarins, and Minneola tangelos.

Sunkist Growers will also be celebrating its fresh organic packaging with designs that pay homage to its California heritage and feature the iconic Sunkist lollipop logo

“With a year-round organic citrus program, it is essential and meaningful to meet with our customers to support their programs, meet their needs, and grow the category,” notes Christina. “A lot of positive energy flows through the show floor, and we look forward to getting together to celebrate organic produce overall.”
