SALINAS, CA - Crisp and crunchy. Fresh and flavorful. Sweet yet savory. There are so many words that can be used to describe the appeal of a farm-fresh, high-quality salad—and Church Brothers Farms has been adeptly harnessing the opportunities of the versatile category with its flavor-forward Tuscan Salad lineup.

Ernst Van Eeghen, Vice President of Foodservice Business Development, Church Brothers Farms“Our Tuscan Salad lineup is the most comprehensive tender leaf offering in the industry,” says Ernst Van Eeghen, Vice President of Foodservice Business Development. “With six SKUs currently shipping and a seventh coming this fall, the blends are a superior alternative to spring mix. They’re crunchy, and have more loft and great forkability. Each blend contains a variety of sweet lettuces—no mustards, chards, or radicchio—so they have great flavor too.”

Church Brothers Farms recently unveiled the latest extension of this lineup, adding three new varieties to the mix. Each of the three newest blends starts with The Original Tuscan Salads blend as a base. Scarlet Butter features the addition of Red Butter leaves, giving the product an impressively elegant plate presence and velvety mouthfeel. Supreme Green is an all-emerald blend of Tango and Oak lettuce varieties and serves as a great alternative to traditional Romaine salads. Color & Crunch, on the other hand, has chopped Romaine added, giving it amplified texture and sweetness.

“We really see our Tuscan Salads as the next generation after spring mix,” Ernst continues. “They hold up better to dressings and hot proteins, offer more servings per pound, and have a better shelf-life. What wouldn’t a foodservice operator love about that?”

These recently developed SKUs complement Church Brothers Farms’ Original and Organic blends, as well as Farmer’s Selection, an 8 lb field-packed carton of five different Tuscan Salads whole head varieties.

The spotlight will soon be on this robust lineup as the supplier takes to this year’s Southern Innovations.

“We like Southern Innovations because the more intimate environment gives us an opportunity to spend quality time with both existing and potential customers,” concludes Ernst.
