CMI is kicking off its Kiku program. The company will begin shipping this week with supplies lasting for approximately the next 8 weeks. CMI is offering the Kikus in a new 5 box euro shipper along with informational totes that feature a QR code linking consumers to parentage information, recipes, flavor attributes, and a video of the KIKU grower. The totes also feature a PLU indentification number ensuring the apples are properly scanned through at the register. 2 lb. pouch bags are paired with a new 2 box shipper, as well. Bob Mast, Vice President of Marketing, tells AndNowUKnow, "What a better way to kick of the New Year than with an apple that offers outstanding eating quality, great color and a super sweet flavor."

NoKota Packers has begun using the Odenberg grading system to help increase efficiencies in sorting its red potato offerings from the Red River Valley. Currently the market price is low due to overproduction of potatoes nationwide. President Steve Tweten, tells AndNowUKnow, "It has been an interesting harvesting year in the Red River Valley. In early and mid September, the weather conditions were incredibly dry and then too wet in late October. Field moisture prevented harvest and then rains came and froze what was left in the ground. But with our grading system we have been able to sort the crop and are offering plenty of great quality potatoes for our retail partners."
