Dollar General Announces Upcoming Retirement of John Garratt; Jeff Owen Comments

GOODLETTSVILLE, TN - As one door closes, another one opens, and for Dollar General President and Chief Financial Officer John Garratt, that new door leads to retirement. Effective June 2, 2023, the leader will be stepping down from his role, ushering in a successor, which the retailer is currently searching for.

Garratt joined the Dollar General team in 2014 as its Senior Vice President of Finance and Strategy before being named Executive Vice President and CFO in December 2015. According to a release, he has served in his current position since September 2022.

During his time as CFO, Garratt oversaw the finance, accounting, investor relations, treasury, and procurement functions. He led a disciplined approach to expense and capital management, focusing on delivering strong, consistent financial performance.

Additionally, he helped to establish the company’s current strategy function, offering direction in the process that resulted in initiatives that have driven significant growth for Dollar General in recent years.
