Marcus Griggs received a patent for the variety in 2008 and has been cultivating its growth at G&C Farms, ever since. The fruit offers a vivid display of bright red and golden yellow skin to accompany the extra sweet and juicy flavors. High sugar and high acid levels give the Orondo its distinct flair. Loren Queen, Marketing & Communications Manager, states, "It's been a ten year process to bring the Orondo Ruby to the market. There's a lot of excitement around this variety from retailers and consumers and we look forward to expanding to new markets this summer." Keep on the look out this summer when the Orondo Ruby will hits produce departments in late June or early July.
