SALISBURY, NC - Ahold has been floating around the front of my radar lately with news of investments, expansions, and remodeling. Now, Ahold’s grocery banner, Food Lion, is setting up shop in a new location. Food Lion recently announced it will be moving into another vacant location that once housed Bi-Lo supermarket in Goose Creek. This will be the third location that Food Lion will operate in the area and the 15th in the Charleston region.
“Food Lion is excited to be able to offer a new, easier shopping experience for Goose Creek customers,” Media and Community Relations Manager, Benny Smith, said. “We expect to open sometime later this year.”
Local news source The Post and Courier reported that the former Bi-Lo store occupied 47,500 square feet, just east of a long-standing Publix supermarket and a Walmart Neighborhood Market store. The new store comes after Ahold announced that it has finished its remodel of 92 other stores in South Carolina, the home state of Food Lion.
