TEMPLE, PA - Don't have a fungal freakout, but a Giorgio Fresh Company subsidiary (Giorgio) and Country Fresh Mushrooms have reached an agreement that will benefit both fungi suppliers. In the agreement, Giorgio will acquire certain assets and assume certain operations of the Country Fresh business, which includes not only Country Fresh’s mushroom distribution and sales operations, but also the operation of its packing operations in Pennsylvania and Arizona.
“Country Fresh has a great history in the mushroom industry and we are excited to integrate their fresh mushroom business into the Giorgio family,” said Joe Caldwell, President of Giorgio Fresh Company. “We will work closely to continue to provide all of our customers with the highest level of quality and service.”
The agreement applies to certain operations—joining the Giorgio team will be Country Fresh’s sales and customer service teams, though the Country Fresh brand will continue on in the marketplace. In addition, many of the mushroom growers associated with Country Fresh have now agreed to supply mushrooms to Giorgio. Operating as a division of Giorgio Foods Xpress, LLC, will be CF Logistics, LLC.
“Working together with Giorgio will allow us to better serve our customers and help them grow their mushroom category,” commented Ed Leo, CEO of Country Fresh in a press release. “We fully expect to execute a seamless transition for everyone.”
