EMERYVILLE, CA - On top of a new Executive Vice President, Grocery Outlet is bolstering its leadership with new additions to its Board of Directors. John E. Bachman and Mary Kay Haben will not only expand the grocer's Board to 11 members, but also join Grocery Outlet's team at a pivotal time as it continues to strengthen its operations and chase after growth in more markets.
“Jeb and Mary Kay bring impressive credentials with successful track records to Grocery Outlet. We are thrilled to add executives with their skills and experience to the Board of Directors,” said Eric Lindberg, CEO of Grocery Outlet. “Their expertise will help us to further enhance Grocery Outlet’s governance and guide our future growth.”
With over four decades of leadership experience under his belt, Bachman is well prepared to add value to Grocery Outlet’s Board of Directors. Specifically, his resume boasts roles at PriceWaterhouseCoopers including U.S. Strategy Leader and U.S. Assurance Operations Leader, in which he served as COO of the firm’s audit and risk management practice in the U.S. He is also very familiar with the inner workings of boardrooms, having served on the Board of Directors for The Children’s Place, WEX Inc., and SCANA Corporation. Bachman received an MBA from the Harvard University Graduate Business School.
After 33 years with Kraft Foods and Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, Haben is a highly respected food industry veteran with demonstrated success in global brand management. During her 27-year-long career with Kraft Foods, Haben held the position of President and led several multibillion-dollar divisions. At Wrigley, she served as Group Vice President and Managing Director, North America and was then promoted to President, North America, following Wrigley’s acquisition of Mars, during which she led the integration of the Mars confection and Wrigley gum businesses. Haben is also no stranger to boardrooms, having served on the Boards of The Hershey Company, Bob Evans Farms, and Equity Residential. She received an MBA in Marketing from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business.
According to a press release, Bachman qualifies as an independent Class I Director, will stand for election at the 2020 Annual Meeting of Stockholders, and will serve as Chairman of the Audit Committee for Grocery Outlet because he is credited as an “audit committee financial expert” under applicable SEC rules. Haben qualifies as an independent Class II Director and will stand for election at the 2021 Annual Meeting of Stockholders.
Congratulations to both Bachman and Haben on these new leadership roles with Grocery Outlet! As the grocer continues to grow, AndNowUKnow will continue to follow along with updates.
