Growers Express is currently growing and harvesting its broccoli crop in Imperial Valley, California. This season, the company is placing a greater emphasis on post-harvest cooling and handling in an effort to continue to improve an already prominent veg category at the shelf. California berries are ready to ship with terrific quality and increasing volume. Oxnard had a slower than usual winter start due to the newer strawberry varieties, San Andreas and Monterey, which were slower to gain momentum than Ventana. However, volumes look to be plentiful just in time for the holiday. Michelle Deleissegues, Director of Marketing, tells us “Red Blossom’s growth and focus has been in our steadily increasing Mexican blackberry program where we now pack 6 Oz, 12 OZ and 18 OZ conventional and 6 OZ organic blackberries daily.
