Kroger Expands Fulfillment Network to Louisville, Kentucky; Gabriel Arreaga Discusses

LOUISVILLE, KY - In a recent move to bolster its e-commerce capabilities, Kroger has pulled back the curtain on a new spoke facility in Louisville, Kentucky. Powered by the Ocado Group, the state-of-the-art facility uses vertical integration, machine learning, and robotics to provide affordable and fast fresh food delivery.

"The new service is an innovative addition to the expanding digital shopping experience available to Kroger customers. The network's delivery spoke facility will provide unmatched customer service and improve access to fresh food in areas eager for the variety and value offered by Kroger direct to their homes."

The 50,000-square-foot spoke facility located on Robards Lane in Louisville will collaborate with the hub in Monroe, Ohio, and serve as a cross-dock to connect customers with fresh food, according to a company release. It is expected to become operational later this year, employing up to 161 full-time associates.

The recent expansion signifies an extension of the long-term partnership between Kroger and Ocado, as the retailer’s vast delivery network relies on highly automated fulfillment centers.
