<p>Lipman Produce is using children's television programming in order to help teach kids about fruit and vegetable production.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Lipman's Estero Farm was recently featured on WGCU’s Curious Kids Show, a half-hour children’s television show that "provides an environmental and ecological perspective of Southwest Florida by exploring its people and places," according to a press release.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The episode can be viewed below. (The Lipman portion begins at approximately the 21 minute mark.)<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><iframe width="480" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/API_Lh3U1yw#t=21m01s" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The episode features the cast visiting Lipman's farm in Estero. Among other things, the young reporters were shown field crops grown for both retail and foodservice. The importance of pollination in the growing process was also highlighted. The cast also took a tractor ride where they plowed a field and toured the farm's orange groves.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">“We really enjoyed hosting such a bright, intelligent and very inquisitive group of kids,” said Jaime Weisinger, Lipman’s director of community and government relations. “Lipman is committed to youth education and the Curious Kids Show is an example of the types of efforts we support.”<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Programs like these are important because they provide positive messages about our food system and how crops are produced in the U.S. Lipman's choice to be featured shows its commitment to engaging young people and increasing awareness about agriculture for the next generation.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">“It is important for kids to see and learn about where their food comes from. Just buying food in the supermarket doesn’t connect children to the larger picture of food – the people who grow it and harvest it,” said Curious Kids Producer Rosemary Emery. “The kids really enjoyed their visit to the farm – especially the tractor ride.”<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><a class="btn btn-sm btn-primary col-lg-12" style="white-space: normal;" href="http://www.lipmanproduce.com/" target="_new"> Lipman Produce </a></p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">
