Mastronardi Produce’s spring crop of non-GMO verified SUNSET® Eco Peppers™ is now available. SUNSET® Eco Peppers™ are grown at the company’s Canadian farm EnviroFresh all year round. The first of its kind in North America, EnviroFresh is a carbon negative greenhouse that uses up to 90% less fuel than traditional greenhouses. EnviroFresh follows SUNSET’s Green Grass Project™ and implements good agricultural practices such as the use of renewable growing mediums, recycled water, and integrated pest management, which uses friendly insects to control any harmful ones. CEO, Paul Mastronardi, tells us, “In 2010, Mastronardi Produce/SUNSET® became the first fresh produce company to become non-GMO verified.
