Mission Produce is currently shipping Hass avocados from Mexico and Chile, preparing for the big volume push in January for Super Bowl promotions. The company is working closely with the avocado associations, like Avocados from Mexico, APEAM, and CAIA, to help create promotional opportunities for retailers and consumers. Peak season for Mexico runs now through about March and April. Jim Donovan, VP Global Sourcing & Business Development, tells AndNowUKnow, “Super Bowl takes on a life of its own as one of the largest promotional periods of the year for avocados. We are excited to offer our program and promotable volumes this season, in order to increase consumption and the ring at the register.”

Church Brothers is launching into the New Year with expanded acreage in Northern and Central Mexico, as well as expanded acreage in Arizona and California on items that include lettuce, romaine and broccoli. Over the past few years, Mexico has become a focus for Church Brothers, resulting in the addition of a few new grower partners in the region. Ernst Van Eeghen, Director of Marketing & Product Development, tells AndNowUKnow, “This year we are concentrating on evolving the program here at Church Brothers to meet the growing demand for our products. As we increase capacity and product availability, you can be sure that there will be new items on the distant horizon. We have made a smooth transition to our Winter growing regions and optimally aligned all the pieces in the complex produce supply chain puzzle.”
