Mission Produce is increasing the scope and size of its Mexican packing facility to accommodate a 20% increase in demand for avocados in the US. President Steve Barnard stated: “The Mexico packing plant has all of the newest fruit handling technology making it one of the most modern avocado facilities in the world. The improvements have more than tripled the packing production rate where we can now easily move 1 million pounds of fruit a day”. This major grower-exporter has made technological strides in the areas of packing, pre-cooling, receiving, cold storage and bagging, which is sure to help Mission Produce meet the growing US demand for avocados.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">
