Oneonta Starr Ranch Growers’ group of grower/packers, Columbia Reach Pack, is now packing on its newly installed line, designed to increase efficiency and quality control for apples. The new line is a 10-lane Greefa sizer that is about 300 feet long and is contained within a 98,000 square foot facility, according to a press release. It features defect sorting on all 10 lanes and also includes internal defect sorting as well.

<img class="small-cropped-image" src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacySmallCroppedImages/3. Also, we have room to add a second 10-lane sizer next to the current one.”

The equipment was installed by United Sales Inc., a packing machinery manufacturer located in the Yakima area. United also built the existing front line.

Looking ahead, Marboe says Oneonta expects to see Columbia Reach add more CA to the operation, increasing capacity to 121 rooms and with storage for 185,000 bins.

Oneonta Starr Ranch Growers
