Organics Unlimited's Daniella Velazquez de Leon Shares Update Ahead of Organic Produce Summit

SAN DIEGO, CA - A full lineup of organic tropical offerings will soon be on display as the Organic Produce Summit (OPS) nears. Organics Unlimited is bringing its banana, papaya, and coconut programs into the spotlight, highlighting the advantages the grower is sparking across all three categories.

Daniella Velazquez de Leon, General Manager, Organics Unlimited

“Bananas remain our flagship, with sourcing from both Mexico and Ecuador that gives us year-round reliability, no matter what the season looks like. Our papaya program features the Intenzza variety, a Formosa hybrid we're really proud of, and coconuts are a newer addition we're excited to introduce to more buyers,” General Manager Daniella Velazquez de Leon explains. “What makes this moment especially relevant is that the organic produce category continues to grow, and retailers are increasingly looking for partners who can deliver consistency, not just availability.”

During the show, Organics Unlimited will also spotlight its GROW program, which contributes $0.60 per banana case and $0.40 per papaya case directly to worker communities in Mexico and Ecuador. Since its inception in 2005, the program has contributed more than $4 million to the GROW Fund, supporting education, healthcare, housing, and community development across sourcing regions. In 2025 alone, GROW helped fund the college education of 15 students and provided medical support to 120 children in Ecuador.

Turning category demand into community impact, the GROW program offers buyers a unique opportunity to share an inspiring story on the shelf.

“OPS is our people. This is the organic industry gathering in one place, and for a company like ours, which is built entirely on relationships, there's no better setting,” Daniella adds. “It's where we deepen existing partnerships, have honest conversations about what retailers need heading into the back half of the year, and connect with buyers who are actively evaluating their supply chain decisions. We're a lean team with direct access to decision-makers, so when a buyer walks up to our booth, they're talking to the people who can actually make something happen. That's pretty rare in this industry, and OPS is where that advantage shows up most clearly.”

What truly sets the company apart in the organic fruit industry is its long-term experience.

“Organic produce has a lot of voices right now, but very few companies that have been in the organic tropicals space as long as we have, with the farm infrastructure, the certifications, and the social impact track record to back it up,” Daniella says. “We're third-generation, family-owned, and still run the way we were built: grower-first, relationship-first, and focused on doing this the right way for the long term.”

Laying the foundation for further growth, the supplier recently welcomed Manuel Velazquez de Leon to the team as Business Development and Client Relations Manager.

“Manuel is a third-generation family member bringing six years of marketing and client services experience to the business, and his addition reflects our continued commitment to growing thoughtfully while staying true to our roots,” Daniella notes. “OPS is a great reminder of why that approach matters.”
