Prime Time Produce now has promotional volumes of red peppers and expects good supplies all Summer long! The company began harvesting Green peppers in April in Coachella Valley, and started red peppers in May. Prime Time will now transition to Bakersfield to harvest green peppers and red bell peppers will begin there in mid-July. By mid-August production will shift to the Oxnard area for the balance of the season. According to Director of Marketing, Mike Aiton, the weather this year has been cooperative, resulting in outstanding color and uninterrupted availability. He stated, “Colored peppers used to be speciality items but now customers buy them by the truck load because of the increasing consumer demand.
