Prime Time is entering into a period of transition as production in mainland Mexico begins to wind down. Next stop for pepper production is Baja, California and then Coachella Valley in late April. Coachella Valley production will last through June, and will include green beans, green bell peppers, watermelon, sweet corn, eggplant, elongated red and yellow peppers, and mini- sweet peppers. Cucumbers, and hard squash will also be available throughout this time period. Mike Aiton, Director of Marketing, tells AndNowUKnow, “Prime Time is on the cusp of having substantial volume on a wide variety of items . May and June are the busiest times of the year for Prime Time and we are currently in the process of building promotions for the first months of Summer.”

East Coast-based, Vision Import Group, is ramping up its mango and lime production for the Cinco de Mayo season. The company is currently promoting its “Van Gogh,” “Top Quality,” and “Little Princess,” mango labels. Mexican production began a month ago as the Peruvian deal wound down. Ronnie Cohen, Vice President of Sales, tells AndNowUKnow, “Though production in Oaxaca remains slightly short of expectations, production in Michoacán should start shortly and pick up any slack, ensuring promotional volumes are met for Cinco de Mayo.” The company is working to ensure Mexican limes are at promotional volumes as well. The company markets under 3 Labels: Mojito, Mr. Squeeze, and Havana. In spite of a small supply gap, after Easter supplies are expected to be ample for the season.
