MILLEN, GA - The curtains are up with a spotlight trained on one industry luminary ready to make her voice heard. Enter Kim St George, Vice President of Sales for Dole Food Company. The supply-side stalwart is being honored by the Southeast Produce Council (SEPC) Southern Roots Committee as the Southern Roots Member Spotlight for August 2023.
In a release sent out by SEPC, we had the opportunity to learn a bit more about St George and her life outside fresh produce. In one particularly intriguing response, she shared about a recent event that further proved her strength.
“Running my first marathon in April 2023 (Big Sur International Marathon) made me stronger both mentally and physically. Less than one percent of the population has completed a marathon, so [I am] very proud of this accomplishment!” St George exclaimed in the announcement from SEPC.
The Dole VP is passionate about contributing, giving back, and making a difference. To ensure she continues to grow her leadership skills, St George invests her time in continual learning opportunities such as podcasts, webinars, and volunteering.
“Leadership is about making others better as a result of your presence and making sure that impact lasts in your absence,” St George shared when asked what her favorite quote is. She went on to highlight her lessons learned: “Stay humble, be appreciative for opportunities, and pay it forward whenever possible.”
But, I promised you would get a taste of what St George does outside the industry, didn’t I? Among the items on her bucket list is to sit front row at Sammy Hagar’s annual Birthday Bash concert in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. In another life, St George may have been a gourmet baker whipping up tiramisu, flourless molten chocolate lava cake, and other mouthwatering creations.
Her guilty pleasure—watching HGTV, specifically Beachfront Bargain or Bahamas Life—is similar to my own. When she is not enjoying the couch, though, St George dreams of chartering a luxury yacht to explore the Amalfi Coast in Southern Italy.
