PRODUCE INDUSTRY - We all live for raw moments, hallmarks of what it truly means to be human. One of my favorite moments from last year’s Women’s Fresh Perspectives Conference was the highly attended event, Women in Leadership: Unplugged. It was a beautiful, revealing, and inspiring dialogue about the challenges and triumphs of some of our industry’s strongest and most insightful leaders. I anticipate that 2025’s will be no different, especially with panel members like Sonya Constable, Vice President of Produce, Sprouts Farmers Market, bringing her experiences to the table.

With the event quickly approaching April 13–15 in Carlsbad, California, I asked Sonya to share with me how she feels about the event, why programs like this one are essential, and where her passion takes flight.

“Women’s Fresh Perspective is an incredible opportunity for women of all backgrounds to come together with a focus on learning and growing together,” Sonya tells me. “The thing I love is that we are all coming from such different places in careers and in life, yet have the ability to learn so much from each other.”

It is easy to forget our own personal growth in an industry as fast-paced and challenging as ours, and moments like this conference provide a much-needed mirror and investment in self.

“We all get caught up in our day-to-day at work and home, sometimes forgetting to dedicate time for ourselves. This conference is a chance to recharge and reenergize!” Sonya describes. “Women still face unique challenges when it comes to the workplace. Hearing from other women who have navigated through similar experiences helps us lift each other up. I am excited to feel the energy in the room, there is so much passion in the produce industry!”

When I asked Sonya what advice she has for women trying to find their way in the industry, she immediately enriches me with her words.

“Whether you are in produce or another business, I have the same three pieces of advice. Drive your career with intention, show up as your authentic self, and you won’t always be invited to the table— sometimes you need to just pull up a chair,” Sonya shares.

Grab your chair, ladies. I will see you in April.
