Stemilt has kicked off harvest on its California cherries near Bakersfield. The company is presently picking Brooks and Coral, both in good volumes, with Tulare, Rainier, Bing, and others to follow. Peak season runs from May 13th to June 1st, which means the company will have promotable volumes of cherries for Memorial Day. Stemilt has grower centric POS signage and pop-up display bins to help promote cherries this year. The company will also start packing cherries in random-weight pouch bags this season. These bags are a grab-and-go style and very convenient. Marketing Director, Roger Pepperl, tells AndNowUKnow, "We’re just getting into the season, but are already excited about the size and quality of Stemilt World Famous cherries. Quality is very good for the varieties as they keep getting . The company has also jumped into social media this Spring, with the launch of a Facebook page.
