Cherry harvesting is off to a slow start this year, due to the cold weather conditions. We talked to Stemilt Marketing Director, Roger Pepperl, who mentioned harvest in California is running about a week late. He expects picking to start May 5th, with promotional volumes available in mid-May. He stated quote, “we expect to have a really nice crop out of California, with really nice sizes, peaking at 10 ½ row.” In California, about 10 million boxes of cherries are anticipated this year. Of that figure, Stemilt produces about 1.2 million boxes.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">
