NEW YORK - Stop & Shop is positioning itself to stay ahead in the increasingly competitive New York metro area market. According to a report by silive, the retailer will be filling over 1,200 part-time positions in New Jersey (520 positions), Long Island (390 positions), and New York City (340 positions).
“I started in grocery more than 30 years ago as part-time cashier,” said Bob Yager, Senior Vice President of Sales and Operations, according to the news source. “These aren’t just part-time jobs; they are the building blocks to a rewarding career with a company that values people and hard work.”
While the retailer has not yet disclosed which stores will be welcoming new team members, Stop & Shop did note that it will be hiring new employees in its produce, grocery, bakery, deli, seafood, and meat departments. Open positions include cashiers, baggers, porters, and more.
The news source also noted that Stop & Shop is expecting to fill 80 percent of the 1,200 positions by promoting from within.
