Each year the company donates fresh produce and the use of their refrigerated distribution center to provide 1000 families with assistance through the organization. This year Tanimura & Antle employees took their holiday spirit and giving to the next level by raising a total of $10,000 for the Salinas Salvation Army Holiday Food and Toy Drive. Tanimura & Antle employees made personal contributions to ensure success of the food drive.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><img src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacyWriterImages/TA_Salvation Army_2012 4x6.jpg" alt="images121312" /><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">“We heard that last year there was a shortage of turkeys for the food baskets, so we wanted to contribute what we could this year, to make sure that didn’t happen again. It was a great team effort by everyone,” states Colin Horwitz of Tanimura & Antle, the organizer of the employee donation effort.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">In order to fill holiday food and toy packages the Salinas Salvation Army relies on support from local companies, the Salvation Army red kettles outside of retail locations and the annual KSBW Share Your Holiday event, according to a press release. On December 15th families will receive their holiday packages including blankets, $100 of groceries, and toys for an estimated 2,500 children.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Major Kris Potter, who oversees the Salinas Salvation Army comments, “The produce donation from Tanimura & Antle puts a “WOW” factor into our Christmas food boxes making them the healthiest in the country.
